Funeral services for Bob Messer, age 78, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012, with Rev. John Crist, Rev. Gary Hampton and Rev. Verne Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Black Oak Cemetery with William Messer, Joe Crist, Henry Garvin, Charles Westbrook, Kevin Harris, Slade Thompson, William Kirby, Charleston Messer and Jeff Kirby serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Bob Messer passed away Thursday morning, June 7, 2012 at Sulphur Springs Health & Rehab. He was born in Conroe, October 19, 1933, the son of Bowman Messer and Edmae (Garvin) Messer. He married Ann Graham in Dallas on May 1, 1954; she survives. He was retired from Westbrook Ready-Mix and a member of Elm Ridge Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: daughter, Janice Crist of Como; son, Robert Messer and wife, Mary, of Terrell; two sisters, Loretta McDaniel of Pickton and Grace Berger of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, John Crist, Joe Crist, Ann Thompson and William Messer and great-grandchildren, Brook, Lexi, Peyton Thompson, Bowman Messer, John Crist, Colton Crist, Jaeden Crist and Jacob Crist. He was preceded in death by his parents.
