A graveside service for Billy Ray Pickett, age 84, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 25, 2010 at City Cemetery, with Rev. Charles Rawlinson officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Billy Ray Pickett passed away Tuesday morning, February 23, 2010, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Sulphur Springs, on August 31, 1925, the son of James Miles Pickett and Lillie (Fleming) Pickett. Mr. Pickett was a retired salesman from Marshalls Department Store. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: sister, LaVerne Leaton of Sulphur Springs; nieces, Cathey Martin of Sulphur Springs, Janet Deal of Arlington and JoAnne Parks of Pollok; two nephews, Joe Boyd of Stanley, Virginia and Larry Pickett of Lawrenceville, Georgia and sister-in-law, Dora Jean Bourne of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James Arthur Pickett and Ovis M. Pickett and sister, Annie Mae Pickett.
