Billy Gregg

Funeral Service for Billy Gregg, age 86, of Dike, Texas will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Larkin officiating. Interment will follow at Shooks Chapel with Masonic Rites. Serving as pallbearers will be all the grandsons, great grandsons and nephew. Honorary pallbearers are Coy Vicars, Ottis Collins and G.R. Romans. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Mr. Gregg passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at his home after a long illness.

Billy was born on October 27, 1930 to Mark and Mary (Kitts) Gregg. He married Rosemary Temples on May 27, 1949. Billy was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years and a member of Tira Methodist Church. He was a 50-year member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Hereford Association. Billy was active in the Hopkins County Hereford Association, Texas Hereford Association and the American Paint Horse Association. He helped organize and was a leader in the Hopkins County 4-H Saddle Club. Billy had a passion for producing top quality horses and cattle and leaves behind a legacy that will live on forever. His children and grandchildren showed cattle and competed on horses raised by Billy.

He is survived by his wife Rosemary Gregg; three daughters, Brenda McKinzie (Doyle) of Dike, Rose Odell (Mike) of Como and Gail Gregg of Dike; four grandchildren, Marty McKinzie, Marci Schnitker, Jill Murray and Cody Odell; great grandchildren, Conner McKinzie, Riley McKinzie, Cassady Craddock, Morgan McKinzie, Camryn Craddock, Jake Murray, Bill Cody Odell, Jenna Murray and J.D. Schnitker; sister, Mary Ruth Henderson; brother, James (Jim) Gregg and wife Peggy; brother-in-law, Aubrey Temples.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jo Echols, Ann Odom, Eva Hargrave and Ezell Miller; brothers, Mack Gregg and Robert Gregg.

The family would like to thank faithful caretaker Nita Greene. Memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.

Interment will follow the service.
