Bill Volk

Funeral services for Bill Volk, age 86, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2008. A military graveside service, under the direction of the Hopkins County Military Coalition, will follow at City Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Bill Volk passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 26, 2008, at Colonial Lodge Assisted Living in McKinney. He was born in Echo, Minnesota, on July 12, 1922, the son of August and Alma Lange Volk. He married Lanell Angell in Sulphur Springs, on December 24, 1944. She preceded him in death in 1988. Mr. Volk was a retired investor. He was of the Lutheran faith. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include: three daughters, Barbara Honea of Melissa, Nancy Volk of Sulphur Springs and Susan Volk of Plano; brother, Duain Swenson of Lesure, Minnesota; grandchildren, Kim Hale, Kathy Root, Kori Rowell, Kelly Rowell and Lindsay Rowell; great-grandchildren, Whitney Swimelar, Cortney Swimelar, Austin Dodd, Greyson Ovletrea and Devon Mallet. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Agnes Clobes and Myrtle Odegard and two brothers, Reuben Volk and Chester Swenson.
