Funeral services for Ben "Dut" Levie Patterson, 92, of Weaver will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2011, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jim Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Sulphur Bluff Cemetery, with Gary Stevens, Don Chance, Jack Chance, Don Patterson, Donald Lynn Patterson, Eugene Edwards, James Kirkpatrick and Bobby Stevens serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Ben "Dut" Levie Patterson passed away at his residence Sunday Morning, December 25, 2011. He was born in the Emblem Community on September 16, 1919 the son of Benjamin Levie Patterson, Sr. and Hattie Viola (Sutton) Patterson. He married Bonnie Faye Hill in Sulphur Springs July 20, 1940. She preceded him in death September, 2011. He was a retired mechanic from Dallas and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Tanton and husband Gene of Weaver, Doris Brown and husband Earl Wayne of Sulphur Springs; one son, Larry L. Patterson of Saltillo; grandchildren, Justin Ashby, Jackie Lynn Dyess, Doris Elaine Hughes, Shennel Miner, Amy Anderson, Kelly Brown, Keri Patterson, Rhonda Glosson, Troy Patterson, Carl Hullet, Russell Brown, Gregg Brown, Amy Brewer and Kevin Brown and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter, Nina Dyess; two sons, Delbert Patterson and Claudie Everitt Patterson; grandson, Gerald Crawford; brother, Claudie Patterson and six sisters, Daisy Yelverton, Rosie Huie, Sally Huie, Jesker Mae Chance, Dorothy Smith and Maggie Banister.
