A graveside service for Barney McQueen of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Peerless Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2012, with Rev. Lee Huff officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Stanley Joe McQueen, Wesley McQueen, Justin Joe McQueen, Stelvin Dial, Ely McQueen, Logan McQueen, Shane McQueen and Joey Patterson. Visitation will be held two hours (9:00 a.m.) prior to the service at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Barney McQueen passed away at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Wednesday morning, May 23, 2012. He was born in Hopkins County October 15, 1926, the son of Wes McQueen and Carrie (Ward) McQueen. He married Opal Arnold who preceded him in death. He married Darnell Daniel on September 9, 1988; she survives. He was a retired farmer, dairyman and owned and operated a paint and body shop in the Posey Community and he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: children, Stanley McQueen and wife, Ann, Tommy Joe (TJ) McQueen, Alice Ann McQueen Davidson and husband Donal, Ed McQueen and wife, Elaina, Bill McQueen and wife, Darla and Dusty Bee McQueen, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, four brothers and one sister.
