Funeral services for Margie Alvira Dickens, age 96 of Sulphur Springs, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home, with Dr. Lynn Turner officiating with Travis Aven, Larry Argenbright, Bavard Hill, Jerry Wilhite, Jim Thompson and Nick Nichols serving as pallbearers. Interment followed at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation was held on Sunday, from 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Alvira passed away on December 26, 2015 at Wesley House Assisted Living. She was born on March 28, 1919 in Hunt County, the daughter of John L. and Myrtle (Hart) Williams. She was married to Cecil Dickens on February 2, 1941. Alvira was a homemaker and a member of the League Street Church of Christ and the 39'ers church group.
She is survived by: her sons, Danny Dickens and wife Kris, of Celeste and Tommy Dickens and wife Pat, of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Darrin Dickens and Angie George and husband Clayton; great-grandchildren, Kasie Barclay, Chloe, Claire, Carlee, Cade, and Chandler George and great-great-grandchildren Alanna Davis, Scarlet Davis and Riley Barclay.
She is preceded in death: by her husband; two sisters, Agnes Eddins and Geneva Lowery; granddaughter, Kim Dickens; grandson, Kevin Dickens and great-grandson, Kyle Dickens.
