Funeral services for Alvin Oscar "Junior" Moro, 77, of Como, will be held at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel, 803 N. Main, Meridian, Texas, at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2008. Interment will follow at Morgan Cemetery, in Morgan, Texas, with Jeremy Bowen, Justin Bowen, Jeffrey Bowen, Coy Mayes, Jr., Chris Mayes and Robert Phillips serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Alvin Oscar "Junior" Moro passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital of Winnsboro. He was born in Humble, on December 28, 1930, the son of Alvin Oscar Moro, Sr. and Mattie Julia Sorter Moro. He married Audrey Fay Phillips, in Sulphur Springs, on December 3, 1985; she survives. Mr. Moro was retired from the United States Postal Service. He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a volunteer fire fighter for 17 years.
Other survivors include: three sons, Ronnie Moro of Trinity, Merle Phillips of Lake Jackson, Phillip Phillips of Sugar Land; three daughters, Rhonda Alexander of Pearland, Elaine Rogers of Ft. Worth, Penny Gregg of Fresno; step-mother, Clara Moro of Katy; brother, Billy Moro of Alvin; sister, Elizabeth Milson of Katy; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; niece Joann Keamerling and husband, David, and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews . He was preceded in death by sister, Sarah Padgett.
